My Favorite Winter Picture Books

One of my favorite ways to mark seasons and holidays for my kids is through picture books. In some seasons (the weeks leading up to Halloween come to mind!) an enormous pile of themed books can be found in the bedtime books spot. In other seasons (like summer) the pile is smaller but the books are still beloved. For some reason, I find the selection of winter (separate from holiday/Christmas) picture books to be some of my favorites of the whole year. My kids and I find these books calming, slower paced, and just right for snuggling up with during the coldest months of the year. Below is our list of current favorites (kids are 7 and almost 9) and I've also added a list of the ones that they have outgrown but still hold a special place in my heart. It's funny to note over the years which books they have begun to roll their eyes at and which ones I would have thought passé but they still love out of nostalgia or habit. Here are the winter themed picture books most beloved by our family, in no particular order and perfect for a snowy, cozy day at home.
